Wireless-connected ride dynamics for Fox's off-road racing trucks

Fully integrated wireless control for advanced off-road vehicle dynamics systems

Fox Factory’s challenge

Fox set out to build an intelligent, connected suspension control system for a limited-edition 2024 Chevrolet Silverado “super truck.” The solution needed to:

  • integrate Fox’s Live Valve electro-hydraulic suspension
  • run advanced vehicle dynamics algorithms in real time
  • push and pull telemetry many times per second
  • enable wireless configuration, updates, and mode control
  • meet demanding reliability and performance requirements
  • support a premium, unobtrusive driver experience

Fox had the core suspension technology — but bringing together embedded software, vehicle dynamics control, ECU development, and Bluetooth wireless communication required a strategic engineering partner with deep experience in performance-critical systems.

Having collaborated successfully with Virscient before, Fox once again tapped the team for embedded software, wireless engineering, system integration, and rapid prototyping.

A connected suspension ecosystem — engineered for performance

Virscient worked closely with Fox to build a fully integrated suspension control platform, consisting of:

  • a high-performance ECU
  • Fox’s Live Valve system
  • wireless mode controllers
  • a mobile app
  • a full real-time telemetry engine

Working as Fox’s strategic engineering partner, Virscient:

  • led the system design around an STW Technic ECU – including  Infineon TC1798 MCU
  • built performance-critical embedded software to handle Live Valve control, telemetry and safety-critical behaviours
  • integrated Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF52883 Bluetooth® multiprotocol SoCs into controllers and mobile interfaces
  • rapidly delivered early prototypes of controllers, apps and subsystems
  • optimised communication so riders could configure, update and monitor suspension performance right from their smartphone

The Outcome

The system launched on Fox Factory’s limited-edition 2025 Chevrolet Silverado super truck (pictured) – delivering an intelligent, connected suspension experience unlike anything on the market.

Drivers can now:

  • configure suspension behaviour wirelessly from their smartphone
  • update system modes and firmware without tools or shop visits
  • access real-time performance telemetry streamed multiple times per second
  • record and compare ride data to refine performance
  • enjoy a seamless, premium experience where high-performance hardware and software disappear into the background

Fox achieved its goal of building a new benchmark for off-road ride dynamics, powered by a tightly integrated blend of mechanical engineering, vehicle dynamics, wireless connectivity and embedded intelligence.

As Virscient’s GM of Projects Owen Woollaston summarised:
“Fox came to us with an exciting vision to transform ride dynamics. The launch of the 2024 Silverado super truck shows exactly what we achieved together.”
